Your Daily Impact

As the Remote Linux Sys Admin Manager, you won’t just oversee — you’ll actively shape the infrastructure that powers thousands of seedbox users around the globe. Your mornings might begin with a quick sync with the distributed admin team, reviewing overnight alerts from our monitoring stack and prioritizing the day’s most critical tasks. From there, you’ll dive into hands-on troubleshooting, deploying kernel updates across 500+ bare-metal servers, or architecting a new automation pipeline that reduces manual toil. Every action you take will have a direct, measurable impact on uptime, performance, and customer satisfaction.

Collaboration sits at the heart of this role. You’ll work side by side with support engineers to diagnose complex user-facing issues, and partner with the networking team to optimize BGP routing and peering across multiple data centers. Expect to write crisp documentation, conduct root cause analyses after major incidents, and lead post-mortem meetings that turn failures into long-term reliability wins. We’re a “we own it” culture, so you’ll never hear “that’s not my job” — if it affects our systems, it’s your call to make things right.

Beyond the reactive work, you’ll continuously push our infrastructure forward. That means researching emerging technologies, testing new kernel features, and proposing architectural changes that keep us ahead of the curve. One quarter might see you rolling out a new centralized logging cluster; the next, designing a resilient storage tier with Ceph or ZFS. The mix changes constantly, and your curiosity will be rewarded with real freedom to experiment.

Our Technology Stack

We live and breathe Linux — primarily Debian and Ubuntu across the entire server fleet. You’ll manage everything from low-level hardware diagnostics to container orchestration, with deep exposure to LXC, KVM virtualization, and extensive use of Ansible for configuration management. Our automation layer is homegrown and heavily scripted in Bash, Python, and occasionally Go, so strong scripting chops are essential. Monitoring is non-negotiable: we rely on a combination of Prometheus, Grafana, and custom check scripts to give us visibility into everything from disk I/O latency to per-tenant traffic patterns.

Networking is just as critical as the compute layer. You’ll work with 1 Gbps, 10 Gbps, and even 40 Gbps interfaces, tackle iptables/nftables rules at scale, and fine-tune TCP stack settings for high-throughput, low-latency delivery. Storage is another pillar — think multi-terabyte RAID arrays, NVMe caching, and distributed file systems designed for simultaneous read/write access by hundreds of users. The stack is complex, but we believe in manageable complexity: every component is documented, every playbook is version-controlled, and every change is peer-reviewed before it ever hits production.

  • Operating Systems: Debian, Ubuntu Server (LTS), with a few Alpine containers
  • Automation & Config Management: Ansible (primary), custom Bash/Python utilities, Git for infrastructure as code
  • Monitoring & Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, and a suite of external probes
  • Storage: ZFS pools, hardware RAID controllers, Ceph clusters in experimental environments
  • Networking: BGP (Bird), OSPF, iptables/nftables, VLAN segmentation, WireGuard for secure management tunnels

Growth & Development

RapidSeedbox isn’t a place where you stand still. We actively invest in your technical leadership skills — whether through access to professional training platforms, conference attendance, or dedicated time for self-directed research. As a manager, you’ll receive coaching on everything from giving effective feedback to strategic planning, because we know that managing systems and managing people require two different toolkits. Your growth path is yours to define: deepen your expertise in Linux performance tuning, expand into security architecture, or evolve into a director-level role overseeing the entire infrastructure group.

Every quarter, you’ll set personal objectives alongside your team goals. These aren’t cookie-cutter KPIs set in a boardroom — they’re crafted together with your direct reports and the CTO to align your interests with the company’s needs. Want to get a CKA certification? We’ll fund it. Think our incident response process needs a revamp? Own that initiative and lead the change. We reward demonstrated ownership and impact, not time-served or titles. Many of our senior engineers started in junior admin roles; your ambition sets the ceiling, not a corporate ladder.

Peer learning is built into the workflow. You’ll join weekly architecture roundtables where anyone can present a design proposal, and monthly “break-and-fix” labs that pit the team against simulated failures. It’s okay to break things in a safe sandbox — that’s how we build muscle memory for 3 AM outages. You’ll also mentor junior admins, helping them level up their shell scripting and diagnostic skills, because we believe that teaching reinforces mastery.

The RapidSeedbox Remote Experience

We’ve been 100% remote long before it became a trend, and we’ve built a culture that works. Communication is asynchronous-first, grounding itself in detailed written updates, threaded discussions in our chat platform, and video only when a face-to-face conversation truly adds value. You can set your daily rhythm — whether you’re an early bird who tackles complex tasks before breakfast, or a night owl who finds focus after dusk, you’re trusted to deliver results on your own schedule. All we ask is a reasonable overlap with the core team for a few hours, typically in the European time zone, so that collaboration remains effortless.

Remote doesn’t mean isolated. We hold bi-annual company retreats in different locations — past trips have taken us to the Bulgarian mountains and the Greek coast — where we mix strategy workshops with relaxed downtime. These gatherings cement the bonds that make our daily text chats feel human. You’ll also receive a generous home-office stipend to build a workspace that suits you perfectly, whether that means a standing desk, a high-end monitor setup, or noise-canceling headphones that let you focus in the busiest home. Our “Everyone matters” ethos translates into always treating remote colleagues as first-class participants, never as an afterthought on a conference room speakerphone.

We celebrate wins publicly — shipped a major kernel upgrade without a single user noticing? Expect a shout-out in the company-wide channel. Hit a new uptime record? That’s a reason for a virtual pizza party. And when challenges arise, we rally together, blamelessly. You’ll have direct access to the CEO, CTO, and every team member with no layers of bureaucracy. Your voice will shape policies, tool choices, and even product direction, because the people engineering our infrastructure are the ones who understand it best.
