Role Overview:

The Marketing Lead, Global Social will report to the Senior Lead, Global Social and be based in Los Angeles or San Francisco. They are an experienced, strategic, and highly creative individual who will join the team that manages Airbnb’s global social media marketing efforts. They will leverage established and emerging social media channels, finding new and creative ways to express Airbnb brand and expanding our reach and engagement across different channels. They will be a champion of the Airbnb community, working to create a modern editorial content strategy that is participatory with our audience.

The Marketing Lead, Global Social will define our global and channel specific social media strategy, partnering with the marketing, comms and different business units to ensure our social channels are an extension of our company-wide strategy. They will also partner with key social media platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat and Pinterest) to pilot new ways to use existing channels and will develop relationships with emerging platforms (Twitch, Reddit) that can help us grow our followers and increase brand affinity.

The ideal candidate will understand how to use social media and editorial content to strategically build brands, capture attention, and generate advocacy on a global scale. They will have developed highly creative social media marketing campaigns (preferably for global consumer brands) that have been culturally resonant. They will have a deep understanding of the capabilities and behaviors of social platforms, and the unique role of social platforms in the broader marketing mix. They will understand how to imbue a sense of creative excellence across social channels. They will have a pulse on culture, weaving together creators, influencers, artists, musicians, videographers and other creative talent to build a multifaceted content engine.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the development of strategic, culturally relevant social media marketing campaigns that contribute to the growth of our business and build love for our brand
  • Manage all aspects of campaigns from setting overall strategy, overseeing production, and creating distribution plans
  • Drive growth in followers and engagement across existing and new channels while improving overall sentiment
  • Lead relationships with internal creative teams, agencies, and platforms to deliver uniquely Airbnb, culturally relevant campaigns that establish the bar for other brands
  • Pioneer development of a wide range of content forms, including video, text, still imagery, animation, live action and other content forms that best utilize the technology available on any given social media/digital platform.
  • Cultivate stronger relationships with partner platforms (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, etc) gaining access to emerging content forms and technologies
  • Ensure all campaigns are planned, managed, and delivered on time on budget, and that all campaigns meet our standards for creative excellence
  • Work closely with our Data Science team to integrate and measure the value and impact our social media marketing opportunities and use data to optimize and iterate on the approach

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in social marketing and content creation
  • Track record of driving piloting new ideas, measuring the impact and iterating
  • Examples of social marketing campaigns that show creative excellence
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams including comms, product, and brand marketing to enable social-first thinking across organizational lines
  • Delivers strategic and creative thinking without losing sight of the tactical details
  • (Preferred) a passion for travel and desire to provide a relevant, inspiring experience to guests and to contribute to building an iconic and lasting brand
